About the Author
David Wilkerson was born in Muskegon, Michigan, in 1931. He was ordained as a minister in the Assemblies of God in 1952. In 1958, he moved to New York City to work with the city's gangs. Wilkerson founded Teen Challenge, a Christian drug and alcohol rehabilitation program, in 1960. He also founded World Challenge, a Christian missionary organization, in 1974. Wilkerson died in a car accident in 2011.
