Imagine That: Over 45 Years of Auto Racing Experiences
For over 45 years, I've been involved in auto racing in one form or another. I've been a crew member, a driver, and a team owner. I've raced on dirt tracks, asphalt tracks, and road courses. I've raced in the United States, Canada, and Europe. I've won races, I've lost races, and I've crashed. But through it all, I've never lost my passion for the sport.

This book is a collection of some of my most memorable experiences from my years in auto racing. I've written about the highs of victory, the lows of defeat, and the challenges of running a race team. I've also included some of the funny and bizarre things that have happened to me over the years.
I hope you enjoy reading this book as much as I enjoyed writing it. And if you're ever at a race track, be sure to come and say hello. I'd love to hear your stories.
Chapter 1: The Early Years
I grew up in a small town in the Midwest. My dad was a mechanic, and he loved to race cars. I spent many weekends at the local dirt track, watching him race. When I was old enough, I started racing go-karts. I loved the feeling of speed and the thrill of competition. I knew right away that I wanted to be a race car driver.
When I was 16, I got my first real race car. It was a used dirt track car, and it was far from being a top-of-the-line car. But it was all I had, and I was determined to make the best of it.
I started racing at a small local track. I didn't win any races that first year, but I learned a lot. I learned about car setup, race strategy, and how to handle a car at the limit.
The next year, I moved up to a bigger track. I still didn't win any races, but I was starting to get faster. I was also starting to get noticed by other drivers and teams.
Chapter 2: The Big Break
In 1985, I got my big break. I was offered a ride in a Late Model Stock Car. Late Model Stock Cars are some of the fastest and most competitive cars on dirt tracks. I knew that this was my chance to make it to the big time.
I won my first race in a Late Model Stock Car in 1986. I went on to win several more races that year, and I finished the season in the top 10 in points.
In 1987, I won my first championship. I won five races that year, and I finished the season with a comfortable lead in points.
I continued to race Late Model Stock Cars for several more years. I won several more championships, and I established myself as one of the top drivers in the country.
Chapter 3: The Move to NASCAR
In 1995, I made the move to NASCAR. I started racing in the Busch Series, which is now known as the Xfinity Series. I won my first race in the Busch Series in 1996. I went on to win several more races that year, and I finished the season in the top 10 in points.
In 1997, I moved up to the Winston Cup Series, which is now known as the NASCAR Cup Series. I won my first race in the Cup Series in 1998. I went on to win several more races that year, and I finished the season in the top 10 in points.
I continued to race in the Cup Series for several more years. I won several more races, and I finished in the top 10 in points several times.
Chapter 4: The Team Owner
In 2005, I decided to retire from driving and focus on team ownership. I started my own NASCAR team, and I hired a young driver named Kyle Busch to drive for me.
Kyle Busch is one of the most successful drivers in NASCAR history. He has won over 200 races, including the Daytona 500. I'm proud to have been a part of his success.
I'm still involved in NASCAR today. I'm a team owner, and I'm also a commentator for Fox Sports. I love the sport of auto racing, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of it for over 45 years.
I've been fortunate to have had a long and successful career in auto racing. I've won races, I've won championships, and I've raced against some of the best drivers in the world. But the thing that I'm most proud of is the relationships that I've built over the years. I've made lifelong friends in the sport, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of it.
I hope you've enjoyed reading this book. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. I'd be happy to hear from you.
Thank you for reading!
Sincerely,
Mark Martin
